Machard

Design Studio Contromano, 2025

Machard is the result of a precise search for proportions, for an elegant and contemporary table.

Machard is a sculptural table, with an hourglass-shaped metal base that gives it a sense of lightness and elegance. The base is ‘woven’ with taut ropes that partially envelop it, drawing alternating upward and downward rays that create a visual illusion in which the table seems to float. A skilful weave that becomes the distinctive decorative element of the design. The rope work is available in red, green, grey, mud and mélange to match the round top in glass (transparent, smoked or bronzed), marble (all types in the Flou collection) or wood (natural ash, coffee-stained ash, black-stained ash, natural iroko). Machard is also available in an outdoor version.
The tabletop of the Machard table, crafted from Lepanto Green marble N056, features deep veins and natural hues of dark green, white, and rust. Two slices of pear rest on a light-colored tray, adding a fresh touch to the arrangement.
A close-up highlights the dense, even weave of the Verde 137 rope that characterizes the base of the Machard table. The taut, parallel ropes create a sculptural form with a contemporary aesthetic.
The Machard table, with a base made of woven melange rope and a top in polished white Carrara marble (N060), becomes the focal point of the dining room, accompanied by three Briscola chairs upholstered in Linosa 883. Natural light highlights the smooth surfaces and the translucency of the wine glasses arranged on the table.
Machard is a masterpiece of technique and decoration; a true sculpture. The metal base with a simple hourglass shape is the cue to create a unique and original string weave.
The Machard table is set, highlighting the contrast between the polished white Carrara marble N060 and the textured melange rope. The Briscola chair in Linosa 883 completes the kitchen’s refined and bright atmosphere.
A close-up view reveals the craftsmanship of the Machard table’s base, crafted from a dense weave of melange rope that creates a graphic, textured pattern. The raking light highlights the three-dimensionality of the weave.
The weave rope is offered in five contemporary and trendy colors-gray, mélange, mud, green and red-that can be freely matched with the glass, wood or marble top.
